A couple weeks ago I received a last minute phone call from old time buddy Derak who I call Supa, he needed me to cover the performance of his sister April Hatcher who was performing at the Revelation Generation in New Jersey. This was the first time I really covered a singer on stage, but it was definitely a fun experience.
I received this VIP band, and was able to go anywhere I needed on the stage to get the shots of her performing. In addition they had these little go carts all around that transported the performance and their people whenever they needed to go. It was cool hopping around in these little carts. I felt so elite lol. The above shot is one of the pictures I took of April performing, it was worked on some by Derak for added effect.
Well at least this month it is. Since September is historically Back to School month, I thought it would be cool to have some young children in the cover image of G Style. I Had all kinds of gadgets for them to shoot with, and they really like using them. My daughter loves the iPad and the Blackberry Torch. She even managed to take a picture of me, taking a picture of her, with the Blackberry Torch lol. James was hooked on that iPhone 4, he unlocked it and just took it to town.
I love my eye for photography. Granted I don’t think I’m the hottest photographer out there, but I do think I can spot perfect moment in time that needs to be captured on the fly.
I was shooting a video for G Style Magazine with Lucky Madison one day and we was shooting the HTC Aria. As we was wrapping up the shoot, we was just talking and Lucky was playing with the phone. She tilted her head a certain way while she was holding the phone in a way that looked like a perfect product shot.
I quickly told her not to move, switch the camera from video to still mode (I was using the Olympus PEN 2 camera), and got the shot. I loved that shot so far, it became the header image for G Style Magazine. This would be Lucky’s second “cover” with us at G Style.
Again I’m no great photographer, I’m ok but when the visual hits me I know when to snap the button to capture it.
